Reunion’s Rain

With six day’s break, we have at our disposal
the latitude to feel each other out.
Six days—what an infinite proposal;
a luxury of time, reprieved from doubt.
Reunion’s rain relieves the family drought.

Shared news becomes discussion, turns to chat,
then flattens into reminiscence, so
like the sunlit pool that tempts a cat.
Except our pool needs sunscreen and a hat!
