A hope*full knit-a-square bus

by Dawne on February 18, 2011

Ladies and gentlemen, it gives me great pleasure to show you this:

A full bus of 35 kids with 35 hats and 35 blankets!

iThemba is now a hope*full bus indeed!  In a few short weeks knit-a-square supporters have made enough squares for 35 blankets and have knit/crocheted 35 hats.  As these items are working their way to South Africa through the post the folks over at the forum are working away to fill a second bus.

Please drop by, have a chat and get to know some fellow knit-a-square supporters if you aren’t a forum member already.  Membership is free and requires only that you choose a username and password.

I’m biased, of course, with my involvement with Sandy and KasCare. But something tells me iThemba, and the cheerful buses that follow it, will swell to become a fleet. And that fleet will inspire a highway of vehicles for creative ideas and energetic members reaching out to these children.
It is by these simple, childlike (but not childish) devices that we regain touch with humanity and humility.
What it would be to drive that bus, in hope and towards hope. Praise and thanks to all behind iThemba and those who follow her.
